MOZART! The new musical MOZART! of the successful "Elisabeth"-duet Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay is based on the life-story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. In the center there’s a genius artist, who must escape from his tyrannically-loving father and an imposing system, to be able to open-up as a musician and man – it‘s a drama of growing-up. Count Colloredo, Lord Archbishop of Salzburg, plays
an important role firstly as patron and then as an adversary of Mozarts
in his life.
Press commentaries:
Stuttgarter Nachrichten / 1999-10-06 ..... Stuttgart's former Musicalstar Uwe
Kroeger looks after the real surprise: he awards outstanding format to
the figure only meagerly outlined by Michael Kunze of the Salzburg‘s Lord
Archbishop Colloredo, also vocally.....
Neue Zürcher Zeitung / 1999-10-04 ..... The singing cast is vocally balanced.
Judging upon stage-presence, Mozart himself (Yngve Gasoy Romdal) is not
starling of the evening, but rather Lord Archbishop Colloredo (Uwe Kroeger).
.....
Variety New York, USA ..... there are real treasures ... and
uniformly solid cast ..... Mozart's nemesis in the form of the dark Salzburg
Archbishop Colloredo (Uwe Kroeger) .....
Die Welt / 1999-10-04 ..... The cast is excellent: Uwe Kroeger
(Colloredo), Lenneke Willemsen (baroness of Waldstätten) and Yngve
Gasoy Romdal (Mozart) are good actors and excellent singers. .....
Neues Volksblatt Graz / October 1999 ..... Thomas Borchert is a strong-voiced
strict father Leopold, decorative Uwe Kroeger, dominantly sweeping and
prominently singing all over the stage as Colloredo. .....
Leipziger Volkszeitung / 1999-10-05 ..... Musicalstar Uwe Kroeger convinces
as enlightened, power-conscious and vigorous Colloredo, who although too
late, is the only one who understands, what a millennium talent this Mozart
is. .....
Handelsblatt / 1999-10-07 ..... Thomas Borchert (father Leopold Mozart)
and Uwe Kroeger (archbishop Colloredo) convince vocally and dramatically.
.....
BILD Stuttgart / 1999-10-05 Stuttgart's Musicalstar Uwe Kroeger (34)
– now on stage in the famous Vienna theater. .....
Wiener Zeitung / 1999-10-04 ..... however Uwe Kroeger offers an impressive
performance as Lord Archbishop Colloredo. He, a power-conscious and authoritarian
potentate, recognizes Mozart as a genius and finally must admit that his
own power fails him. .....
Donau Kurier / 1999-10-05 ..... As "Lord Archbishop Colloredo" Uwe
Kroeger is sponsor, employer and also opponent of the Mozart not wanting
to submit to the hierarchical dictation. With this role Uwe Kroeger proved
once again the frequency range of his artistic abilities. The conversation
of this figure is effectively brought about in a sensational way, paricularily
the strength of his vocal stage-presence, which he effectively used. .....
Südwest Presse / 1999-10-06 ..... As Joe Gillis in "Sunset Boulevard"
still in the slipstream of Uwe Kroeger, the young Norwegian fights for
the pole-position in "MOZART!" with the German Musicalidol.
Passauer Neue Presse / 1999-10-04 ..... The lack of story subsequently gets
to the show, even if the figures did distinguish themselves – particularily
Uwe Kroeger as the "villain" Colloredo and Lenneke Willemsen as the promising
well-meaning countess of Waldstätten. .....
Kronenzeitung / 1999-10-04 ..... Uwe Kroeger as Lord Archbishop, Thomas
Borchert as father Leopold and Boris Eder as Schikaneder show the strongest
personality. .....
AZ / 1999-10-04 ..... He doesn’t just remember cliches
in a perfect sceneries magic, but also funny gags like the Archbishop Colloredo
(fascinating: Uwe Kroeger) in the coach with WC-armchair or the motorized
Thespis carts of the Weber-family. .....
